Caveat Emptor: Real Change In Medicine
It is important to note that the vast majority of physicians — be they medical, osteopathic or chiropractic — are not sufficiently trained in neuromuscular, myofascial or musculoskeletal pathology and modalities to effectively evaluate for the kinds of issues described in this publication. Nor are there easily found practitioners who are familiar with the concept of C.E.M.&.N.T. or Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension. Surprisingly, the same is true for physical and occupational therapists, as well as most yoga teachers/therapists, and a majority of massage & bodywork therapists.
For just one Example, when it comes to many of the issues presented in this manual, much of physical therapy, yoga, and other modalities are based on “strengthening” muscles that are allegedly “too weak.” The methods presented on this website are not in favor of such approaches, and find it to be frequently ineffective at best, or in many cases, very harmful to certain clients, students or patients. In fact, very often, the muscles in question are not truly weak (only exhausted and out of balance, causing them to show up as “weak”). Therefore, focusing on strengthening such muscles fails to treat the true root cause of the reported trouble, and can potentially cause increased stress & tension, pain & dysfunction, in the client, student or patient, or far worse.
There are a a few yoga therapists, and a larger number of massage & bodywork therapists who ARE capable of helping with many such issues, yet surprisingly, many are not. Most health care professionals of all disciplines, as of yet, are also, to varying degrees, unfamiliar with the full implications of C.E.M.&.N.T. (Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension), or how to work with it. Yet, as discussed in this manual, it’s responsible for many conditions interfering with the lives of many people.
While orthodox medicine is very competent at working with many kinds of acute medical emergencies, they are almost completely UN-equipped — sometimes even ANTI-equipped — to deal with chronic metabolic and stress or tension related health conditions, especially those that are nutritionally related, or any conditions more fully and properly addressed via reduction or elimination of Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension. Issues stemming from C.E.M.&.N.T. are nearly unaddressed let alone acknowledged in much of the health care field, both orthodox and alternative.
When it comes to such issues, we are in the approximate status nutrition was 20 or more years ago. At that time, there were very few physicians focusing on diet and nutrition at all. And many efforts were embarked upon by the “medical establishment” to deny the efficacy and availability of nutritional healing to Americans. And, according to judicial rulings by the United States Supreme Court, there was an aggressive force within the orthodox medical system attempting to suppress certain other alternative therapies, especially chiropractic.
In those days, medically trained doctors did not wake up one morning and start thinking about nutrition and how it would help their patients. No, it was patients coming into their offices waving copies of Adele Davis’s books (such as Let’s Eat Right To Keep Fit) on nutrition that — eventually — got their attention.
peaceful means, that The System will make any significant changes.
